We’ll have a wonderful December everyone and a great Christmas. I hope to catch up with you on Wednesday and for the next few BBQs at Bunnings. As the silly season approaches, we have lots of activities to do and the district AGM, a fabulous party at Narelle and Davids to enjoy and a terrific Rotary New Year 2025.  We have to think about how to organise SEC for next year. So far, I have emailed all of the 14 high schools in the district to ask if they wish to attend. I have sent out written packages of information too.  Three schools have replied yes so far. The venue is CSU on the 1st April. We have to vacate by 3pm on the dot, so all hands on deck please in that day and for set up the afternoon before. Bathurst club have asked for our help for a few events so let’s see if we can join forces and help them and hopefully they can help us too. Woy Woy Club are busy selling Christmas trees for their fundraising activities and they have their Opera to organise for March too. Let’s see if a couple of us can help too. It is Saturday 29th March. So all the best and let’s welcome Ada home soon from Finland! Be happy my friends Sonia xxx

Stories
Prominent Place - Bathurst Airport
A bit about Bathurst Airport by Erik Mol
The first aeroplane to land in Bathurst was at the Showground in 1912, a Bleriot monoplane. (It’s interesting to reflect that this is only nine years after the first successful powered flight at Kittyhawk).
There were 4 areas used as landing fields prior to 1932;
  • Shute’s Paddock in what is now the Kelso industrial area,
  • The Kelso Flats where the hockey fields are now in Learmonth Park,
  • A holding paddock on Vale Rd and
  • The Eglinton Racecourse where the 2BS aerials now stand.

Something to Wine About!
Last week, we were joined for Breakfast by Mark and Sandy Renzaglia.  Mark told us about how his parents were pioneers in starting up a vineyard in Alto Pass, Illinois, USA in 1982,
Mark and Sandy have followed in Mark's parents footsteps by establishing a vineyard in O'Connell Valley, NSW in 1997.
Now Mark, Sandy and their son Sam, manage three local vineyards as well as their own Bella Luna Vineyard.
This season, they hope to produce around 3000 dozen bottles of fine cool climate wine!
