President’s Message
 
Welcome to another edition of our Club Bulletin. Thank you to our enthusiastic Editor Lynette Bullen for her efforts.
 
I would like to welcome Ada Banks as an Honorary Member of our Club and congratulate her on recently becoming School Captain for Bathurst High.
 
Recently the District Governor for D9705, Mr Robert Shaw visited our Club at one of our Breakfast Meetings and spoke to us about many areas of Rotary focusing on the importance of membership within Club and District level. As you are aware I am keen to put a working group of interested members from within our Club to look at how can recruit and retain members in our Club over the next twelve months. If anyone is interested and willing to be part of this group, can they please let me know.
 
I am also keen to hear from our Club members on ideas for local and international projects that our Club can undertake during the next 12 months. I am keen to hear from anyone who has a suggestion or an idea for a project.
 
September is shaping up to be a very busy month for our Club with many activities being undertaken during the month. Thank you to all the members who are giving up their valuable time to coordinate and help with these activities. Everyone’s efforts are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our new member, Lynette Bullen, who has transferred from the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak. Lynette has been a Rotarian for the past 17 years and has contributed overseas through two RAWCS projects in Nepal. In 2023, she led a GSE team of First Nations Wiradjuri young professionals to South Dakota. She has also survived to tell the tale of a three-week Rotary Youth Exchange Safari as a group leader!
Boys to the Bush
We also enjoyed an inspiring presentation from Boys to the Bush, with Aaron and Nathan sharing the story of the program’s journey— from its early beginnings to the positive impact it is having today. The program provides mentoring, practical support, and community connections for young boys, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk. It was encouraging to hear about the difference Boys to the Bush is making in the lives of our young fellows here in Bathurst, helping them to build resilience, life skills, and stronger futures.

Rotary Hive Club - Pay it Forward
Supporting Women through ‘Honey’

Our very own Honorary member Ada has been in Cambodia helping to establish Honey, a social enterprise creating period underwear. The project aims to support rural and disadvantaged women to sew and prepare the underwear, with the long-term goal of producing and donating free products to women worldwide.

Ada recently co-presented with Sustainable Cambodia on period education and awareness, where women will trial and provide feedback on the underwear pattern as the project moves towards local production.
