President’s Message
 
Welcome to the October edition of our Club Bulletin.
 
A big thank you to all of our members from our Club who have helped with events held over three weekends in a row last month. We had a Bunnings BBQ on Saturday, 13th September, followed by the catering for the Bathurst Dog Show on the weekend of the 20th and 21st September, the Bathurst Edgell Jog on Sunday, 21st September and another Bunnings BBQ on Saturday, 27th September. I would like to acknowledge the work of Sonia Bostjancic for her tireless efforts in coordinating the catering for the Bathurst Dog Show and Robert George for his work in coordinating the Bunnings BBQs.
 
It was great to work with members from the Bathurst and Oberon Rotary Clubs at the Bathurst Dog Show and with members of the Bathurst Rotary Club at the Bunnings BBQ held on Saturday, 27th September where we raised money for the valuable work undertaken by the Rotary Men’s Health Educational Rural Van (MHERV). Our Club has sponsored a visit of the MHERV to Bathurst for the past two years.
 
Don’t forget our fundraising move night being held at 7.00pm on Wednesday, 22 October at the Metro 5 Cinemas in Bathurst. Part of the ticket price will be donated to the Rotary Foundation to assist with the eradication of polio through Polio Plus. Our Club has extended an invitation to the members of adjoining Rotary Clubs in the Central West area to come along and support this important activity. Please come along with your family and friends and support the work undertaken by Polio Plus.
 
Thank you to all the members who continue to give up your valuable time to help with activities undertaken by our Club. Everyone’s efforts are greatly appreciated.

Bringing Bathurst Clubs Together for Men’s Health

This month, Bathurst Rotary clubs came together to host a joint BBQ in support of the MHERV (Men’s Health Education Rural Van). MHERV is a mobile health initiative that travels across rural and regional NSW, providing free health checks and encouraging men to take charge of their wellbeing.

The BBQ was not only a chance to raise funds for this vital service, but also a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections between our local clubs while supporting a cause that touches so many families. By working together, we continue to make a real difference in improving men’s health outcomes in our community and beyond

Holidays can sometimes lead to unexpected passions
 
This month, we were delighted to have our very own Irene Jones as a guest speaker, sharing her passion for bonsai—also known as ‘little trees.’ What began as a simple trip to Japan soon blossomed into a lifelong love of creating and cultivating bonsai
 
 

A wagging success

This month, we were thrilled to welcome guest speakers from the Bathurst All Breeds and Dog Sports Club at breakfast, as they shared the exciting details of Bathurst’s very first dog show. The was an introduction to their club and to review the plans for the catering 

Once again, the Bathurst, Oberon, and Daybreak Rotary Clubs joined forces to make sure the judges and dog handlers were well-fed and supported throughout the two-day event. With an impressive 791 entries, the show was a fantastic celebration of our local canine community—and a testament to what can be achieved when clubs work together.

It was a weekend full of wagging tails, friendly competition, a free sausage or two for a cheeky doggies, and community spirit.
To celebrate World Polio Day and to raise money for Polio Plus (Rotary Foundation) the Rotary Club of Bathurst Daybreak has arranged a special screening of the movie called ‘The Travellers’ at the Metro 5 Cinemas at 7.00pm on Wednesday, 22 October 2025. Metro 5 Cinemas is located at located at 144 Piper Street in Bathurst. We would like to warmly invite members along with their family and friends from the Rotary Clubs of Bathurst, Blayney, Oberon, Orange, Orange Daybreak and Orange North to join the members from the Rotary Club of Bathurst Daybreak to come along for a fun evening.
 
Tickets will cost $20.00 per person. $5.00 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Rotary Foundation to support the valuable work of Polio Plus Ending Polio | Rotary International.
 
Tickets should be purchased directly from the Metro 5 Cinema. Tickets can be purchased prior to the movie night or on the night itself. Please note that tickets will be available for purchase from Monday, 29 September 2025.
