Welcome to the April edition of our
Club Bulletin
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the members from our Club who have up their valuable time to help with the 'National Science and Engineering Challenge' held at Charles Sturt University on Thursday, 26 March 2026 which was a huge success. I would like to acknowledge and particularity thank Sonia Bostjancic for her outstanding efforts in organising this important activity. I would also like to thank our Sponsors and the Rotary Clubs of Bathurst, Blayney, and Oberon for their support.
 
Just are reminder that our incoming President is still looking for a Treasurer and President Elect for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year. There are less than three months until the start of the new Rotary Year. I would encourage you to please contact President Elect Erik Mol if you are interested in volunteering. The Clubs Annual Changeover will be held on Sunday, 28 June 2026. The Changeover will be at lunchtime at a local venue yet to be decided.
 
As previously mentioned, our Rotary Club has been asked to assist the Bathurst Historical Society with 'The Life and Rhymes of Banjo Paterson' being held on Sunday, 26th April and Monday, 27th April 2026 at the Perthville Community Hall.  Up to four volunteers from our Club are needed for both days to help between 1pm to 4pm with setting up and packing up the hall. Volunteers from the Bathurst Historical Society will be providing the afternoon team on both days. The Bathurst Historical Society has offered a donation to our Club for our assistance. If you are available to help, please let me know ASAP.
 
Our Rotary Club will once again be hosting a visit of the Men's Health Educational Rural Van  (MHERV) to Bathurst on Wednesday, 20th May and Thursday, 21 May 2026. Volunteers will be needed on both days.
 
The Rotary of Bathurst is holding Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) between Monday, 25 May and Thursday 28th May 2026 in Bathurst and is seeking members from our Club to help. If you can help, please let Sonia Bostjancic know.

From Horsepower to Ball Power
 

Bathurst may be famous for horsepower at Mount Panorama, but perhaps it is time to see what a little ball power can do. Instead of ducks, imagine a Conrod Straight Ball Race — hundreds of little colourful balls rolling for glory, community bragging rights, and a good cause. No pit stops, no fuel strategy, and thankfully no speeding fines. It may not match the speed of the Supercars, but it could certainly win for Bathurst creativity, local spirit, fundraising and a very entertaining day out.

125th Anniversary of Banjo Paterson’s Bathurst presentation. On 26 and 27 April, 1901,Australia’s most famous poet, Banjo Paterson, presented lectures on the Boer War in the Bathurst School of Arts. Well known poet Gregory North is re-enacting Banjo’s tour and will present his show, The Life & Rhymes of Banjo Paterson.
